The city guide: New York.

As we gear up for the grand opening of our New York store this fall, Venetia Alia (@veneti.a) takes us on a tour of her favorite city spots. From charming stays to delicious bites and hidden favorites, here’s how to experience New York like a local.

Where to stay:

Fouquet's New York.

Offering Parisian inspired rooms in a quiet part of North Tribeca, Fouquet’s combines French Art Deco elegance with the industrial style of the area. Think red brick buildings and large grid-paned windows. Unwind at the Titsou bar, a cozy speakeasy with lovely cocktails, or enjoy some quaint views of the area from the rooftop.

Where to eat:

Sartiano’s.

Located in The Mercer Hotel, Sartiano’s offers easy Italian food in SoHo. Situated at the lively corner of Mercer and Prince, it’s one of my favorite spots in the city. The moody outdoor tables are perfect for people watching, and there is also street-level indoor seating for a quieter mood, or a bustling restaurant downstairs. My go-to dish is the Bianco pizza with truffle and honey, the whole grain salad, and their signature limoncello spritz.

What to do:

Visit the Met.

An afternoon at the Met is one of the most interesting and replenishing things to do in the city. I always find new spaces and scenes on every visit. Besides spending time with the masters, the architectural complexity of old and new is so exciting. The temple of Dendur on a quiet afternoon is one of the calmest places in the city.

Favorite coffee spot:

Hungry Ghost.

A lesser-known coffee spot favored by Tribeca locals. The space has floor-to-ceiling windows, limited seating in the shape of four stools, and a bar overlooking church street. One of the best oat lattes in the city, and a delicious selection of sweet and savory pastries. My personal favorite is the vegan lemon matcha loaf.
